The DTU PhD program in Accountancy is based on program at Penn State University in the US. Students must complete six courses, three of which compulsory and three elective, write a general report, complete three research projects and write a doctoral dissertation. They are also required to work as assistant lecturers at the university or college level.

Since its very foundation on 11th November 1994, DTU had three departments: Business Administration, Information Technology, and Foreign Languages. In particular, the Department of Business Administration was founded by the University and officially became active the 23rd January 1995.
